# Polaris Adventure

> Polaris Adventure is a free Minesweeper-style logic puzzle game for Android. Guide a polar bear across a field of ice plates, use the numbers to deduce which plates are weak, and break the safe ones before the ice sinks. Developed by P4ulo_r with the Unity Engine. Available in English, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish and French.

## How to play

- Each revealed plate shows how many weak plates surround it, as in Minesweeper.
- Standing on a plate melts it slowly; jumping breaks it at once. Breaking a weak plate sinks the bear.
- Mark suspicious plates to remember where the danger is.
- A timer counts down until the field floods. Eating fish gives extra time.
- Reveal every safe plate to clear the level.

## Modes

### Campaign
- 4 levels that grow from a 7x7 to a 13x13 field, each with its own timer.
- Later levels add plates that look suspicious: some are weak and some are false alarms.
- 3 lives per run: when the bear sinks, spend a life to revive and keep going.
- Special hats give their powers here.
- The best full-run time goes to the Campaign leaderboard on Google Play Games.

### Challenge
- A single 13x13 field packed with weak plates, including clusters of danger.
- At the first break, the weak plates around the opened area are marked automatically.
- No lives and no reviving: one mistake ends the attempt.
- Hat powers do not work in this mode.
- The best time goes to the Challenge leaderboard on Google Play Games.

## Achievements

Each achievement lists its title, description and goal in the four game languages (en, pt-BR, es, fr), and its reward.

### Brave Fisher
- en: Brave Fisher - "He put himself in danger for just a few more seconds!" - Goal: Collect a fish that intentionally appeared on thin ice without falling into the water.
- pt-BR: Pescador Corajoso - "Arriscou a pele por alguns segundos a mais!" - Objetivo: Colete um peixe que apareceu propositalmente sobre uma geleira fraca sem cair na água.
- es: Pescador Valiente - "¡Se puso en peligro por apenas unos segundos más!" - Objetivo: Recoge un pez que apareció intencionalmente sobre una capa de hielo frágil sin caer al agua.
- fr: Pêcheur courageux - « Il s'est mis en danger pour seulement quelques secondes de plus ! » - Objectif : Ramassez un poisson apparu volontairement sur une fine couche de glace, sans tomber à l'eau.

### Chain Reaction
- en: Chain Reaction - "What? Like a domino?" - Goal: Reveal and automatically melt at least 28 neighboring glaciers in a single move.

### Close Call
- en: Close Call - "That Was Close..." - Goal: Complete a level with less than 1 second remaining before the glaciers are submerged.

## Customization

In the Customization screen (pt-BR: Personalização, es: Personalización, fr: Personnalisation) the player chooses the bear, its fur color and a hat. The choice is saved and used in every mode.

### Colors
- 9 fur colors (pt-BR: Cores, es: Colores, fr: Couleurs), all available from the start.
- The color tints the bear's fur and works with every bear and every hat.

## Hats

Only one hat can be worn at a time, so only one power is active. Hat powers work only in the Campaign.

## Bears

Bear names are the same in all four languages, except the classic bear (pt-BR: Urso, es: Oso, fr: Ours). Every bear can wear any hat and use any of the 9 fur colors.

- Bear: the classic polar bear. Available from the start.
- Homebear: shoots red lasers from its eyes to break plates instead of jumping (lasers don't count as jumps). Unlocked by Ice Master.
- Orange Juice: collects orange juice instead of fish. Unlocked by Hairy Bear.
- Keroi: unlocked by HARDCORE.

## Ads

- The game is free and shows ads.
- When you run out of lives, you can choose to watch an ad to revive.
- Ads between attempts are turned off once you complete the campaign.

## History

- Polaris Adventure evolved from [Arktos Like a Souls](https://p4ulo-r.itch.io/arktos-like-a-souls), a PC game created for the [GMTK Game Jam 2026](https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-jam-2026/rate/4831209).
- After the jam, Arktos Like a Souls was improved and gained co-op modes.
- It was then ported to mobile as Polaris Adventure.
